BSH Announces Rider Line-Up for ARRC 2024

Penang, 13 March 2024 – Idemitsu Boon Siew Honda (BSH) Racing Team today announced its rider line-up in anticipation of the Idemitsu FIM Asia Road Racing Championship which will commence for its season opener on 15th March 2024 at Chang International Circuit, Thailand. 

Md Helmi Azman and Azroy Hakeem Anuar, known for their positive reputation in the SuperSports 600cc race category, have confirmed their participation for another exciting season, riding the Honda CBR600RR. The dynamic duo made their debut in the one-make series of the national racing scene, has progressed to impact the Asian and International domain significantly. 

In the Asia Production 250cc race category, Md Irfan Haykal will stride alongside Md Syarifuddin Azman, also fondly known as “Damok” among local fans. While the latter has primarily been a wild-card rider, his appearance in the race category have left a lasting impression. 

It is also confirmed that Md Zaqhwan Zaidi will be racing for another full season in the Asia Superbike 1000cc race category, riding the 2024 version of the Honda CBR1000RRR for Honda Dream Racing with Astemo. The 29-year-old, who finished as the 1st runner up last season after a tough battle has consistently shown great potential in various Asian and International championships, also been the highlight of success for BSH and Honda Asia. 

Team Manager, Mr. Makoto Tamada said, “We have officially renamed Honda Asia-Dream Racing with SHOWA to Honda Asia-Dream Racing with Astemo this year. Along with our talented and highly skilled, riders, I am adamant that we can achieve success in this season’s championship”. 

Commenting on the upcoming season, Idemitsu Boon Siew Honda Racing Team Manager, Mr. Zulhelmi said, “Boon Siew Honda has always been devoted to advancing in motorsports. Through Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), BSH has not only identify, train, and develop professional riders but also uses the platform as a testing ground, fundamental in research and development as well as in advancement of our product design. The data obtained during the racing series is pertinent in identifying our strengths and limitations, giving us an edge over competitors. Our goal in the motorsport division is to optimise our performance while progressively enhance our brand presence.”

Meanwhile, Boon Siew Honda’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mitsuharu Funase said, “We are aiming high for the 2024 racing season, setting our sights on the overall champion title in the Idemitsu Boon Siew Honda Racing Team SS600 category. With meticulous preparation and a hunger for victory, we are ready to overcome any obstacle and make 2024 our year of triumph.”

Idemitsu Boon Siew Honda Racing Team has dedicated the past 12 years to participating in ARRC with the primary goal of excelling in the competition. During this period, Idemitsu Boon Siew Honda Racing Team Racing Team has achieved notable success by winning the SS600 race category for five consecutive years, from 2012 to 2016.
